My Story
Khym (Lomax) Lawson - President
Class of “79”
A product of the Philadelphia Public school system Khym Lomax graduated with honors from Martin Luther King High in the Germantown area of Philadelphia PA. While a student enrolled at King High Ms. Lawson was an academic plus student who made a point to get involved in in her school. She held a position in student government, assisted the administration as an office aid to the deans, played sports and participated in creative and performing arts extra curriculum activities. As an Art Major Khym, was awarded two scholarships to attend Moore College of Art and Design for Women.
Not knowing which of her passion to follow, Khym enrolled in the Fashion Illustration course which encompassed her many talents. After attending three years at Moore Khym to gain more hands on experience Khym was hired as an assistant buyer at a local department store. There she was able to acquire knowledge and experience in Visual Display, store layout, facility planning and retail management.
Believing that one can never be too old to attend school, in 1991 Khym, a homeowner and mother returned to college more confident and determined than ever to capitalize on her experiences and to excel in her next endeavor. Khym received her BFA in Interior Design and Minor in Liberal Arts in 1996. Since graduating Khym has worked for two major architect firms. Khym worked as a Real Estate Manager and Portfolio Analyst for five years before striking out on her own. Today Khym Lawson is the CEO of her own Interior Architecture and Design business, Dezignare’ Lomax LLC.
Khym still resides in Philadelphia and her most cherished and blessed gifts are her two sons Bradley Andre and Michael Donnell and her grandchildren Brianna Madison and Bradley Andre’.
Khym is spirit and faith grounded and attends Triumph Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Khym is a member of The Continental Societies Inc., Philadelphia Chapter, The School District of Philadelphia Home and School Council and Student Advisory Council, a founding member of Associated Resource of Community Schools (ARCS), past member of The National Trust for Historical Preservation.
